sound wave series

exhibited at the 2011 Städelschule Rundgang:

sound wave I, II, and III

The sound wave series is a three-frame film concept in two-color (gray) silkscreen print form, and is comprised of three separate images (sound wave I, II, and III). The work explores and examines the compression and rarefaction characteristics of waveform phenomena. The concept is that as the eye travels through the three works, back and forth, a moiré and film animation effect can be seen. The vertical lines are representative of compression and rarefaction characteristics during sound wave propagation (or dispersion) and the horizontal lines and spaces represent the amplitude (volume) of the sound wave during this sequence. This series is a Städelschule Portikus e.V. edition (auf Deutsch)
